Education is the process of helping the individual to grow and develop in cognitive,affective,psychomotor domain.It is the process of initiating the child into cherished morals,values and skills.Education is the only means of developing natural potential of an individual which ordinarily may be hidden if untapped.Therefore education is a gradual process,slowly and skillfully carried out with a view to bringing out in learner the inborn potentialities and attributes which will invaluably leads to complete development of the individual.The following are the rationale of history of education:1.History of education enables us to understand the type of education we had and the purpose it served in the past. 2.It helps to know the processes involved in the development of our educational system. 3.It gives us the opportunity to know past mistakes in our educational system and be able to make necessary amendments. 4.It helps us to know the present day problems of education in our country and how to solve them.
