Negative peer pressure can influence a youth to begin to do a number of negative things such as experimentation with s3x, drugs, alcohol and other harmful substances. It can also result in joining wrong social groups, gangs and cults thus becoming anti-social. Some can begin to skip school, church services, and begin to indulge in stealing, shoplifting and even armed robbery. The consequences of these actions are far reaching and damaging. Many have ended up becoming serious criminals, drug addicts, rapists, and cultists. Some have gone into prostitution and promiscuity resulting in unwanted pregnancy, abortions, early motherhood, etc. Some others have to be remanded in a delinquent homes or even prisons. Some have been named in a crime they never took part just because they belonged to a group. Some have been killed in gang clashes or in a shoutout with law enforcement agents. Some have become physically maimed and mentally deranged, because of the drugs they got addicted to, etc.

REMEDY FOR NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE

The safest thing to do in order to avoid the influence of negative peer pressure is to run away from it. Being aware of the danger of such a peer pressure will make you not to want to have anything to do with it. The best security you can have from the terrible influences of the world is to come and be secure in Christ. He is the One that has the power to save from this present evil world. There is also the need for you to constantly read and meditate on the word of God. The Bible has the power to keep every young man clean and holy (Psalm 119:9-11).

If you have been involved in any wrong association before, you need to break away from it, and come and make friend of God's people. The fellowship of the brethren in the school and church offers you such strength and support you need to overcome. You must also know how to say "No" to every negative invitation that comes your way. When you resist the devil, he will surely flee from you. Don't also forget to share your faith and testimony with others. This helps to strengthen your defense against the influence of negative pressures. Your future is bright and secure in Christ as you carefully and consistently refuse and reject every negative pressure.
