Number portability is a feature introduced by the Nigerian telecoms to allow sim card owners to transfer their phone numbers to another network provider without losing their number. This service has been already active
in some other countries as well.

Anyone can port or transfer between MTN, Airtel, Etisalat and Glo networks. To port to the etisalat network from an MTN line, follow the procedure below:

1. Copy all the contacts saved on the MTN sim card to your mobile phone. Since the MTN sim would be deactivated, you may not have access to the contacts and text messages saved on it after the port process is complete.

2. Get your ID card, a photocopy of your ID card, the sim pack of the MTN line you wish to port. If you can't find your SIM pack don't worry.

3. Visit an Etislat Experience Center, walk to a customer service staff (usually with a laptop) and tell them that you want to port to etisalat.

4. They will ask you to text Port to 3232 then ask you for some information to complete the process.

5. You would then be given a new Etisalat sim card which uses your MTN number. The MTN sim will also be deactivated.

Note that you will lose all airtime and internet data (mb) on the MTN line.

Thanks alot.
