MTN Xtra Time is a service from MTN Nigeria that allows subscribers to borrow airtime from the network provider whenever you run out of credit and cannot purchase airtime at that particular moment.

How Does MTN XtraTime Work?
1. With this service, you can borrow credit from MTN directly (not from your brother or sister).
2. After you have exhausted the airtime you borrowed, you will not be able to borrow again or do anything with your line until you have recharged your line with airtime which will be enough to pay back for the airtime you borrowed. Then you will be allowed to borrow again and use your line as normal.
3. To be qualified to borrow credit from MTN, your number must have been active for 12 months on the network.
4. You must also have an account balance of between N0 and N12 to borrow credit.
5. MTN charges a service fee of 10% of the borrowed airtime, which means that you only get 90% of what you are borrowing.

To access the MTN XtraTime menu, dial *606#. The following menu options will be displayed:

You can ckeck your MTN XtraTime balance using the regular balance code *556#. Borrowed and unpaid airtime will have a negative sign (-) in front of it.

This service is useful if you, for example, attend an event and there are no airtime retailers around you at that moment or if you do not have the cash to buy airtime at that particular time.
