Hi fellow MTN subscribers. It seems we are being used by MTN to promote other peoples services which will only fill their own pockets at the end of the day. We NEVER opted to receive this messages, they are ANNOYING and can cause serious problems for people. How? Imagine a case where someone is expecting a very important message, (perhaps alert for payment someone made for a purchase for something urgent), and these messages from MTN fills up your inbox until you can receive no more messages (one day's worth of spam messages can do this, no lie). It would mean that whatever that person planned to do that day with the money or for the person will have to be postponed after realizing later on what had happened.

There is a way to stop these messages, but the annoying thing is that M s**t N did not inform the subscribers about this.

To remove yourself from their spam messages, text STOP to 33111. You'll receive a response text message (hopefully the last one) that you will be removed from their campaign database within 24 hours.

But there are still some that are viital, I think its rather too dangerous to do that. All the same, thanks for the information.

Ok, this is a follow up report... I did it a couple of days ago... though the messages have now reduced drastically, but i still currently get a few of them nonetheless. :/
But how did you get to discover some of these tricks if I may ask?

Well most of them are trial n error that i do.. A lot of info can also be found on their official website, their customer service line, or other blogs. :)
