It seems like a strange story -- reporting that someone is not dead. But the peristent rumors spreading virally throughout the Web in recent days that Hollywood star and Mississippian Morgan Freeman is dead have caused concern among many that needs correcting.

Morgan Freeman is not dead, according to a representative of the actor.
"Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax", a rep for Freeman told E! Online.
The Morgan Freeman dead rumor started late last week when a Facebook page that garnered tens of thousands likes suggested that the 75-year-old actor had died.
Even though the Facebook page stated clearly in the description,"He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet," many took the page that was named "R.I.P. Morgan Freeman" as truth and spread therumor.
It's easy, however, to see why many believed the page despite the disclaimer, considering the"About" section on the Facebook fan page said this:
"At about 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, our beloved actor Morgan Freeman passed away due to a artery rupture. Morgan was born on June 1, 1937. He will be missedbut not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking thispage."
The page has more than 800,000"likes."
Days later, the rumor is still spreading, as "Morgan Freeman dead" remains one of the top trending Web phrases. "R.I.P Morgan Freeman" has also trended on Twitter in recent days, and "Morgan Freeman" is the top trending term on Yahoo Monday afternoon -- and it's not his acting prowess in films such as "Driving Miss Daisy" and othersthat people are talking about, butwhether he is in fact alive or not.
Alas, some apparently fell for the hoax.
"I was so saddened by the news that Morgan Freeman had passed,Thank God it is not true…Shame on you whoever started that rumor. Quit saying these awful things," said one Web site commenter.
Freeman, who lives near Charleston in the Mississippi Deltaand also in New York, has been the victim of an Internet death hoax before. The first time was two years ago.
But this time, it seemed to stick with some who spread condolences for Freeman across the Web without knowing it wasa hoax. His rep wanted to set the record straight, saying the star of "The Dark Knight Rises" and many more films is "alive and well."
Freeman, who won an Academy Award in 2005 for the film"Million Dollar Baby," was born in 1937 in Memphis. Earlier this year, Freeman closed the north Mississippi restaurant he owned with Clarksdale attorney Bill Luckett

I got this great article from http://www.clarionledger.com/article/20120910/NEWS/120910019/Morgan-Freeman-dead-in-2012-Nope-rep-says-actor-alive-and-well-blames-hoax

These hoax messages are rampant. I can't recall the number of times WWE Superstar John Cena has been announced to be dead. I go to a Monday night show and still, he lives!

You were the one suspecting his opponents, and am telling you they are too professional to stoop so low as to declare such hoax messages coz it won't do any good, rather it is implicative.
