This iPhone 1013 error occurs when attempting to update your iPhone ios version from iTunes.

This error can be very annoying especially if you don't know what causes it.

The full text of the 1013 error is:
"The iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (1013).

To fix this iPhone 1013 error, please follow the steps below:

For Mac Users:
1. First, open Finder
2. Then while holding down the Command key and the Shift key, press G.
3. Type /private/etc/ and click Go
4. Find a file named hosts.
5. Move the hosts file to your desktop. (This is because we would like to make changes to this file but we most likely would not be allowed to save in the etc directory.)
6. Open the hosts file with a text editor e.g Notepad
7. Find a line that says and remove it, or simply put a # before it to make it invisible.
8. Save the file and then move it back to the etc folder.
9. We are done here, you can continue your recovery or update or whatever it was you were doing.

For Windows Users:
1. Now, we need to find a file called hosts. This file is located at:

For Windows 7, XP and Vista: C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
For Windows NT, 2000, XP Pro: C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
For Windows Me, 98, 95: C:\windows\hosts

2. Right click on the hosts file and click Open with - Notepad.

3. Find the line that says and delete it.
4. Save the file.

That's it.
