"How old is Nigeria?" is quite different from "What year did Nigeria gained her independence?".

The name Nigeria was given to her in the year 1914. Which is currently 10 decades away, if am not mistaking. By Mrs Flora Shaw - Wife to Lord Federick Lugard [First Governor-General of Nigeria].

Hence, Nigeria is 100 years old (1914 - 2014). Her age like i said is quite different from her period of Reign of Sovereignty which is 53years.
