How to reboot your blackberry device without taking out the battery.

Resetting or rebooting your Blackberry handheld device means restarting it completely and not just switching it off and back on.

Turning Off Your Blackberry Device
As you may already know, to turn off your Blackberry device, all you simply need to do is press and hold the Power button. Or you can just click on the Power icon which you will find in your apps list (usually near the bottom). That is called powering off. Turning the device back on is called powering on. Doing these won't change the way your BlackBerry was before you turned it off, if you had an app running, that app would still be open when you turn your device back on (It's like the Hibernate function on a Windows PC). Anyway, I just wanted to make sure everyone has that clear but this does not necessarily have anything to do with this article.

Performing a Hard Reset
You may have seen articles online which explains that to do a hard reset (rebooting) you have to take out the battery, then put it back in for the Blackberry phone to reboot. Well you do not necessarily have to take out the battery as there are other ways of rebooting your blackberry without taking out your battery.

Restart Your Blackberry Without Removing The Battery
There are two ways of doing this.
Method 1: Press and hold the power button as though you are about to 'power off' the device. The moment you see the message "Turning device off, press any key to abort", release the button and press and hold it a second time. The screen should turn off immediately and a red coloured LED would come on signifying a reboot.

METHOD 2: This one is called a 'soft' reset. Here you will need to press and hold three buttons for this to work. First, press and hold the alt key, then using another finger, press and hold the shift key (maybe shown as aA), then with a third finger, press and hold the del key. Your black berry screen would turn off and the device would restart.
