Block a contact on whatsapp For BlackBerry

At first, it may be a little difficult to figure out how to block a contact on the whatsapp application, but that's because the setting is not where you would expect it to be. One would think that pressing the menu button on a contact's overview page would bring up a menu containing an option to block the contact, but that is not the case. Yeah there is a menu, but it does not include the Block option.

Primarily, blocking someone on Whatsapp prevents that person from sending you messages; there are many other things that happen when you block someone on Whatsapp but I will explain that in detail in another article. To block a number on the Whatsapp application, follow the procedure below:

Method 1: How To Block a Number on Whatsapp Via Privacy Settings
Use this method if the contact is saved on your phone (whatsapp contacts)

1. Open up your Whatsapp application.
2. Go to the "Settings" tab, that is, the tab with the gear icon.
3. Choose "Account"
4. Choose "Privacy Settings"
5. Scroll down to the bottom to find "Blocked Contacts". There is a link beside it that displays how many blocked contacts you have. Click on the link to open the blocked contacts page.
6. Press your BlackBerry menu button, then select "Block new contact" (there is also an icon at the top-right corner of the page to add a new blocked contact).
7. You would be redirected to your contact list to select the contact to be blocked.

Method 2: Block Someone on Whatsapp Who Isn't On Your Contact list
Use this method if the person has recently messaged you.

1. Launch your Whatsapp app.
2. Go to your "Chats" tab, which is the tab with the two dialogue balloons.
3. Click on the message from the offending number.
4. In the chat screen you would notice two large buttons. One says Block, the other says Add.
5. Click on the "Block" button and the contact would be added to your Blocked List which you can see from your Privacy settings.

Thanks for this tip. I will try it one day.
