I just got to ss1 first term and i learnt french only in primary 2-3 but since then we were not taught french again
In our own time in secondary school(1990-1993), there was no french teaching in secondary schools. I got to know little french from a french teacher who was a principal in a school where l taught music (2005) and through reading on research.

but what bought the idea of learning french
Yes, and this is key to it; 'When the last letter of a word is a consonant, its pronounciation is usually silent'
For example, 'Vous' is usually pronounced as 'vua' with the 's' silent.

is that just the answer
@Spottykay: Answer to your question- French is a lingual franca for some countries as we speak British English in Nigeria.
@Sir-phil, O yes, you are right; another rule is that they pronunce 'oi' as 'ua'.
E. g. 'Toi' (meaning, you) is pronunced as 'Tua'.
